Benefits for Publishers

We provide you with an efficient, cost-effective way to negotiate national consortium agreements for the UK academic and research communities. You will also have the endorsement of the Jisc Collections brand.

From negotiations with a single body, through to a targeted and timely dissemination of your proposal and follow-up on levels of interest or intention to subscribe, we make the process of doing business with us and our members as simple as possible for you. We distribute and publicise offers to named representatives at each of the eligible institutions in the UK.

In return, we ask that you help make life easier for potential subscribers by agreeing to:

  • use the relevant Model Licence
  • make your pricing model as attractive, affordable and transparent as possible to enable maximum participation by libraries
  • deliver proposals in a timely fashion in order for libraries to make purchasing decisions in line with their budgetary and renewal cycles

Institutions use our online ordering and licence acceptance process that ensures administrative efficiencies for libraries and publishers.

Concerning journal agreements: if the efficiency of receiving a single, centralised payment on behalf of our participating institutions is attractive to you, we will be pleased to discuss the benefits of our Single Payment Model included in our Agreement with you.

Many of our database agreements are prediciated on Jisc Banded pricing.  This approach may be applicable for journal agreements also, particularly when aiming to move away from historical print spend as the basis of an agreement.  Please refer to the banding section of our website to view the lists of the Higher Education and Further Education institutions, Specialist Colleges, and Research Councils that are eligible for Jisc Collections journal agreements, and for further details on the Jisc banding model.
