Grove Art Online covers all aspects of the visual arts from prehistory to the present day, from art and architecture to ceramics and photography.
It gives online access to the entire text of over 50,000 articles from the 34 volume Dictionary of Art, the Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, the Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms, and the Oxford Companion to Western Art.
Updated regularly, it also includes newly-commissioned articles, extensive bibliographies, an expanding range of images embedded in the article text (currently over 2,000), linking via partnerships to other subject specific online resources such as ARTstor, and thousands of links to images, and to museums and galleries worldwide.

An administration fee of £35 per invoice will be charged on invoices in excess of £600. This fee covers JISC Collections' administration and invoicing costs.

Federated searching
Grove Art Online supports federated searching using standard HTTP requests. The z39.50 protocol is not supported.

Simple and advanced searching is available, including full text, biographies, bibliographies, links, contributors, and work lists.
Post-search options
Users can print and email articles.
Usage statistics
ICOLC compliant statistics are available and can be emailed and downloaded.
Authentication
Authentication is via the UK Access Management Federation, Athens, and IP range.
Personalisation
Institutions can add their logo to the interface.
