Oxford Scholarship Online offers unlimited cross-searchable access to over 3,000 Oxford books in 18 subject areas. 500 new books are added each year, making it quick and easy for scholars and students to keep up with the latest research in their disciplines.
Specially commissioned abstracts and keywords are available at book and chapter level, and these are available free alongside journal abstracts in a range of online services. This means that the wealth of scholarly content available within Oxford Scholarship Online is more accessible than ever before.
Oxford Scholarship Online now offers access to the majority of Oxford’s scholarly monograph publishing, this means scholars and students can have unrivalled access to new online monographs more or less simultaneously with the publication of the print edition.
Modules
Oxford Scholarship Online consists of 18 subject modules. All modules are available separately but discounts are available for subscribing to multiple modules.

This agreement is for two years, running from 1st January 2010 to 31st May 2011. Institutions can subscribe at any time, but will be committed until the end of the agreement.
The agreement complies with the terms of the JISC Model Licence.

Additional Authorised User Initiative

Full text linking
In addition to the full text of the works contained within Oxford Scholarship Online, the resource provides extensive reference linking from bibliographies and footnotes, including OpenURL support (for products such as SFX) and via DOI links to matching resources.
Direct links from online course packs and reading lists can be made to individual books and chapters within Oxford Scholarship Online via DOIs.

Federated searching
Oxford Scholarship Online can interact on an HTTP level (Search and Link in the case of MetaLib) using standard search syntax.
MARC records
MARC 21 records, including Library of Congress subject headings, are available to download free of charge.
Metadata standards
Oxford Scholarship Online can be accessed by meta search software via HTTP request and supports the method="get" using a base URL of:
www.oxfordscholarship.com/search/query?quickSearchText
followed directly by =x where x is your search term.
Separate search terms are separated with the + sign. For example, searching for collisions and culture would be added to the base URL as:

Metadata on the server-side is held in the ONIX format, metadata headers are distributed in a standard journal format to third parties such as IngentaConnect and OCLC.
Search options
- Quick search by word or phrase is available from every web page
- Advanced search options allow users to specify their search in greater detail, and to search across a variety of different fields - full text, abstract, subject, author name, publication date, keyword or ISBN
- Bibliography search enables users to filter the search by the constituent parts of a bibliographic citation within a particular book or books (such as publisher, title, author)
- Extensive cross-references increase research possibilities, and provide an alternative way to browse the full text

Post-search options
Users can sort results by relevance, title, author, or publication date.
They can also print, email and save results, including abstracts and keywords, and export citations to Endnote, ProCite, Reference Manager, and RefWorks.
Usage statistics
Usage statistics can be downloaded and emailed, and are designed to comply with standards set by ICOLC and COUNTER (COUNTER Code of Practice for Books and Reference Works, reports BR-2, BR-3 and BR-5).

Authentication is via the UK Access Management Federation, ATHENS, IP range, and referred URL.
