Open Access Fees Project

JISC Collections is currently undertaking a project to identify gold open access articles from UK researchers appearing in journals from NESLi2 publishers. This project will compile and make available a database of information relating to these articles – such as bibliographic information, fee and licence terms. In this way we hope to build up a picture of each institution’s expenditure on Gold OA, inform the NESLi2 negotiations, where expenditure on Gold OA is part of the picture when agreeing subscription fees and support the development of best practice on all sides in the provision of transparent information regarding Gold OA.

The project is currently gathering information on Gold Open Access journals published since January 2009.  The project aims to cross check data obtained from institutions, publishers and funders.  We are hoping to obtain bibliographic data and cost.

We hope institutions, publishers and funders will be enough to provide us with the relevant contact/s and article information in order to compile such data.  If you would like to contact me directly to discuss how you can participate, or who the most appropriate contact within your institution / organisation this would be greatly appreciated.  However, I am we currently contacting institutions / NESLi2 publishers / funders to request the information.

Similarly if you have any questions, or comments in reference to Gold Open Access I welcome your feedback.

Project Timeline: April 2010 to December 2010
