Extending Access Management to Business and Community Engagement

JISC Collections has undertaken a JISC funded project to create a package of materials and strategies based on Identity Management activity taking place at institutions so as to enable other institutions to extend current identity management (IdM) to Business and Community Engagement (BCE) groups. 


An online “how to manual” detailing the process an institution has to go through to achieve a level and quality of identity management suitable for use with existing Federated Access Management tools in order to provide Access and Identity Management to BCE and associated groups has been produced.

Use of specific examples in the online manual provide clear and applicable guidance, illustrated by in-situ step-by step examples, to support associated staff implementing Identity Management for BCE groups.

The manual is a finished online product utilising ‘real-world’ examples and detailed technical and infrastructure scenarios. Although not exactly replicable in all situations these examples should act as inspirational ‘step-by-step walkthroughs’.
