The Institute of Physics' new IOPscience platform, which was launched in March, has received an Honorable Mention in the Best Website or Platform category in the 2009 PROSE awards. The awards are decided by a panel of publishing professionals, librarians and academics and recognise the very best in professional and scholarly publishing.

The new platform includes improved functionality and features:

  • Save time: find relevant content quickly with enhanced search filtering, re-run previous searches, tag your favourite articles.
  • Keep up to date: receive RSS feeds and email alerts when new content is published.
  • Interact and share: use social bookmarking to share articles.
  • Discover related research: explore relevant articles based on subject classification codes.
  • Make it personal: customise alerts, save articles of interest, and view newly published articles within your subject areas.

The transition to the new platform will be seamless and subscribers will be able to access and browse all content in the usual way. IOP will transfer all user accounts to IOPscience, as well as any Table of Contents alerts that users may have set up. Any links going to EJs from proxy servers or major link resolvers (such as Serials Solutions) will also be redirected.
