We would like to that those of you that completed the survey about Journals transferring between publishers and the impact on libraries and users.
Representatives of 44 institutions completed the survey and it is clear from the responses that there are strong feelings about the problems caused for both librarians and users as a result of titles transferring between publishers and these are reinforced by detailed examples and descriptions of problems. The results also show that problems continue to occur, even in the light of the valuable work undertaken by TRANSFER Project.
We have been considering ways in which we might be able help address these problems and these will be discussed at the May meeting of the Electronic Information Resources Working Group (EIRWG) with the aim of agreeing possible steps that could be undertaken. We will provide more information about the steps being taken in our May 2011 newsletter.
