Founded in 2006, JoVE is the first online journal devoted to video publication of biological research. It publishes video demonstrations of biological experiments filmed in research laboratories at leading academic institutions, including Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Princeton, Berkeley, NIH, Yale and others.
This enables visualisation of experimental studies, offering an alternative to traditional text format as a medium for learning, teaching and research.
Subject coverage includes cell biology, development biology, immunology, neuroscience, microbiology and bioengineering. JoVE's target audience includes under- and postgraduate students in biology and medicine, research technicians, and researchers in academia and industry.
The NESLi2 SMP agreement offers access to the complete content of JoVE since its inception in 2007. Around 20 new videos are published every month.
Subscriptions are offered to JoVE General, or to the following subject-specific packages:
- JoVE Neuroscience
- JoVE Immunology & Infection
- JoVE Clinical & Translational Medicine
- JoVE Bioengineering
There is no duplication of coverage between packages.
