A year’s
consortial membership of Bioline International has been purchased by JISC Collections on behalf of the UK HE and FE
community.
Bioline International is a non-profit online publishing initiative dedicated to
supporting the open dissemination of quality peer-review journals from
developing countries. Its goal is to facilitate a truly global exchange of
ideas by improving the flow of research knowledge.
The platform hosts over 70 journals from over 15 countries. Subject areas
include: crop science, tropical medicine, biodiversity, public health and
international development. It is now free to access for all JISC Collections
member institutions.
JISC Collections believes Bioline International is a valuable service and the
funding, agreed by the Electronic Information Resources Working Group (EIRWG), will support all aspects of its
operations including: server support, journal conversion costs, development of
value added services (metadata enhancement, database linking, usage tracking,
COUNTER compliance), and daily basic operating expenses.
The membership will last for a trial period of one year from 1st March 2011, and we urge institutions to make use of the service and send us
feedback.
