University College London

Email Jaimee 

Jaimee Biggins is Managing Editor, UCL Press.  She was previously Team Leader at Oxford University Press where her main responsibilities were leading a team of production editors and working with pre-press suppliers to manage a full-service production workflow. Prior to that she was at the New York OUP office, starting as a production editor in Law and progressing to Team Leader.  Her experience as a production editor embedded the core skills of project management, scheduling, budgeting and quality control. She has also worked in other companies, such as Thieme and Hodder Headline on books and journals. 

Email Lara

Lara Speicher is Publishing Manager at UCL Press, where she is setting up UCL’s new open access university press from scratch. She joined in November 2013, and the Press will start publishing books in 2015. Prior to that she was Commissioning Editor at British Library Publishing, where she commissioned exhibition books and books on literature, history, art, botanical illustration and graphic design for several years, as well as starting a classic crime fiction list. Before that she held editorial roles at BBC Books and Thames and Hudson.

University of the Highlands and Islands and Edinburgh Napier University

Jacky MacMillan is head of the University of the Highlands and Island's Educational Development Unit (EDU). With a background in teaching Hospitality she moved into the world of technology enhanced learning in late 1999 and has led many cross-curriculum blended learning development projects for further and higher education. She established the successful development team; NHC Online at North Highland College and led the Scottish Funding Council's E Transformation project; E Construction for Moray College, UHI. Jacky then moved to UHI to lead the cross-partnership LEARN project which provided many of the building blocks for the EDU. Her interests lie in technology based solutions to distance education.

Laurence Patterson has worked in Higher Education for twenty years, supporting learning, teaching, research and development. Latterly, Laurence's work with Edinburgh Napier University as Lecturer and Programme Leader of the popular MSc Blended and Online Education has allowed him to meet and work with people from across the world. His role as project evaluator on the eTIPS project - a collaboration between Edinburgh Napier University and the University of the Highlands and Islands - began in 2014. Laurence now owns an educational consultancy and a book publishing business and is based in the south of France.

Emma Thompson is Education Lead at the University of Liverpool Library, where as well as leading on E-textbook projects, she has responsibility for student partnership, student skills development and managing services for students studying online and in the University of Liverpool London Campus. Emma leads the development of the Library’s support for learning and teaching, ensuring an approach to supporting learning and teaching that is innovative and inclusive. Previously Emma worked as Research Services Manager at the University of Manchester Library, and Liaison Librarian at the University of Liverpool, and at the University of Plymouth as Business and Languages Information Service Manager, and Subject Librarian.

Alison Welsby is Editorial Director at Liverpool University Press, where she is responsible for the editorial strategy and book commissioning in the History and Visual Culture lists as well as involved in key decisions at management and Board level. Prior to this, Alison was the History and History of Art Commissioning Editor at Manchester University Press for eight years.

Steve Stapleton is a Senior Project Manager at the University of Nottingham where he manages the Open Nottingham programme. Open Nottingham is a programme of work designed to increase the use, reuse and publication of Open Educational Resources (OER) and open on-line courses at the University and beyond.
