A beginner's guide to the Jisc Collections website

The ability to pay for sterling subscriptions by credit or debit card
You can now choose to pay by Credit or Debit Card against sterling (GBP) invoice(s) that are automatically generated from your order (i.e. Sublicence priced orders) via our secure Payment Gateway, Sage Pay. Please note that we can only accept Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, and Maestro cards that are 3D Secure registered. All other sublicence priced orders that are not in sterling, sublicence manual orders and orders that are invoiced direct with publishers / subscription agents will need to be paid for separately either via bank transfer or cheque. Please also note that we are unable to take credit or debit card payments for sterling invoices with a total payable amount of over £100,000.00.
Choose when you want your subscription to start
You can now choose a date when you want your subscription to start (other than today's date or the start date of the agreement) when you add a resource to the basket.
Improved site search functionality
You can search for information across our site, or choose to view any results found in our catalogue instead. The first three search results from the catalogue are now automatically displayed.
View and download your subscription invoices
You can now access the invoices we have raised for your subscriptions direct from your account (in addition to receiving them via email), when you view the details for each resource listed in the "My Collections" tab. If you click on the link that is displayed with the invoice number you can view or save the invoice as an Adobe Acrobat PDF file.
Prepay future subscription years for annual agreements
You can if you wish choose to prepay for future subscription periods* for annual agreements
*If you see the "Prepayment is available" message underneath the resource name from your list of subscription, then this option is available for that resource. Please note that the annual renwal invoices are normally issued 60 days before the start date of the next subscription period and selecting the prepayment option means that the renewal invoice will be issued immediately.
Enhanced catalogue information
We have improved the way in which we provide further explanatory information regarding resource pricing and agreements.
Browse our new and improved catalogue
We've made it easier to browse and discover the resources you need by adding useful filters and search options. Try finding resources by their resource name (including alternative names), or see which ones are free of charge. Filter your search results by main subject area, academic level and resource type. Resources are then listed in alphabetical order, and you can even choose to display only those resources whose title begins with a specific letter.
Agreements for all resources (including the Journal offers) are available in one place making it even easier to search and browse.
Manage your subscriptions online
With a Membership Account, librarians can subscribe to resources online by adding a resource to a basket in a similar way to major online shopping sites. Your account page lets you see what current subscriptions your institution has, and receive automatic reminders when a subscription is due to expire, an invoice for a subscription is overdue, or when a single payment deadline is due for Journal offers.
Account owners can now create sub-accounts which allow other members of staff to access the Membership Account and set permissions such as the ability to place subscription orders online.
Keep yourself up to date with the latest news and developments
Our improved news and events pages allows you to browse and filter by specific categories. Don't forget to check your Membership Account regularly as we also post e-alerts on key items such as renewal information, new agreements, Journal updates, and other announcements.
