Metadata is derived from MARC records or directly from the newspaper images. Source information such as title, publication date, and frequency are captured and used for search and display.

There are three search options available:

• the basic search allows users to search by keyword, date, and subject
• the advanced search allows users to search by author, title, full text, front matter, main text, back-of-book indexes, publisher, and place of publication
• the fuzzy search option expands the search to include spelling variations

Documents can be saved, printed and emailed.

Usage statistics are available and are COUNTER compliant.

Authentication is via the UK Access Management Federation, Athens,  and IP range.
