Search Options

Keyword(s), paper title keyword(s), session, collection, document type, and year range. Journals and debates can be searched by exact date. The search screen also allows users to limit searches by paper type (House of Commons papers, command papers, bills, reports, accounts, House of Lords papers, private and local bills and acts, journals of the House of Commons, journals of the House of Lords, debates, histories, and proceedings). Results can be sorted chronologically by session date, alphabetically by title, or by relevance.

Post Search Options

From a list of results, users can select records and add them to their marked list or add the search to their own password protected work area. From the marked list or my archive users can print, email and download records in a variety of formats, ie plain text, ProCite, EndNote, Reference Manager and RefWorks.

Search History functionality facilitates re-execution and combination of search sets (AND, OR and NOT).

Document images can be downloaded in their entirety or in part in pdf format and document pages can be downloaded as high resolution images.

Usage Statistics

Usage statistics are modelled as closely as possible on the requirements for web statistics produced by the International Coalition of Library Consortia (ICOLC). Though some changes were necessary because of the nature of the database, the publisher has kept to the spirit of the ICOLC requirements.

Customisable usage statistics reports are available to librarians and systems administrators at the administrator resources page.

Authentication

Authentication is via the UK Access Management Federation, Athens, IP range, Username and Password, and Referrer URL.

Personalisation

Users can create a password protected work area where they can save searches and records by selecting records and adding them to their marked list or add them from the search history.

Librarians can customise the interface at an institutional level by adding library branding. This is available under customisation options at the administrator resources page.

Accessibility

The site complies with WAI Priority 1 accessibility standards and some features also contribute towards compliance with Priority 2 and 3 guidelines. For full details, see http://parlipapers.chadwyck.co.uk/infoCentre/access.jsp

Notes On standards compliance

Key licensing details:

What is a Peppercorn payment?

We are often approached for an explanation of peppercorn payments and what this means for institutions. A 'peppercorn payment' is a legal device that ensures there is consideration in a contract and that as a result the contract is valid - further information can be found at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peppercorn_(legal)

It is very unlikely that we will demand a peppercorn from your institution during the life of an agreement, but it is important to note that despite this being the only payment required, the responsibilities on all sides contained within that agreement are as serious as ever.

If you are unsure about anything in the licence please refer to our Guide to the Model Licence.

If you require any further assistance then please contact our Subscriptions Helpdesk at subscriptionshelp@jisc.ac.uk or call us on 01993 880044.
