National consortia
We provide negotiating and licensing services to the following national and international consortia:
- Irish Research eLibrary (IReL)
The collective e-resources procurement initiative known as IReL (Irish Research electronic Libraries), appointed us to undertake pricing and contract negotiations with a range of publishers and content providers on behalf of the IReL consortium.
In the first scheme of its kind in the UK, we negotiated e-journal agreements with three leading academic publishers – Cambridge University Press, the American Chemical Society and Springer – on behalf of all higher education universities in Scotland. The Scottish Higher Education Digital Library (SHEDL) has been backed by all of Scotland's HEIs, who say that easier access to more journals will stimulate better research and support learning and teaching.
In partnership with JISC, we have collaborated with national consortia from Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands on the Knowledge Exchange Licensing Initiative. This multinational initiative builds on our best practice for licensing and negotiation, and will test the effectiveness and efficiencies resulting from different business models.
Following a rigorous procurement process, 5 online resources are now available to all UK Higher and Further Education institutions, and Research Councils on the basis of the JISC Model Licence and under a range of business models.
The following resources are available:
- TheScientificWorldJOURNAL – purchased by JISC Collections and free to all institutions until 31 December 2011
- ALPSP Learned Journals Collection
- BioOne
- Multi–Science
- Wiley InterScience™ OnlineBooks
