Stakeholder Group: terms of reference

To meet twice each year and advise JISC Collections in its role as a facilitator in the market place, mediating between the publishing industry and the higher education community. It will discuss issues in the domain of electronic issues, with special reference to the role that JISC Collections can play in the following areas:

  • Collections building to enable UK higher education to have the widest possible access to historic digital collections, of both scholarly material and primary research material
  • The development of licensing models that enable higher education institutions to have wide access to scholarly material and the permissions to use that material effectively
  • The development of business models that will enable higher education to acquire e-books and other secondary material that will support scholarship and education
  • Where appropriate to delivery of  content and the preservation of content collaboration with the National Datacentres

In discussing these issues, the group will take into account:

  • JISC's collection building strategy
  • The views of stakeholders in the wider community and publishing industry
  • The needs of UK higher education in supporting education and research
  • The needs of publishers to develop and sustain their businesses
  • The needs of UK higher education in supporting education and research
  • Priorities that are practical and achievable
