E-books licensing task and finish group

This group was set up in response to recomendations from the JISC national e-books oobservatory project final report.  A key recommendation of the Observatory project was that a collaborative approach, involving all key stakeholders, was required to develop a model licence for e-books which includes a common set of clauses that:

  • are agreed and interpreted in the same way by all stakeholders
  • are easy to understand and communicate
  • meet the needs of educational users
  • are agreed by all stakeholders as fair

Our first meeting was held in April 2010, and the focus was on agreeing the terms of reference and priorities.

The terms of reference were agreed at the second meeting held in September 2010 where we also looked at the priorities from a library perspective.

The third meeting of the group is on the 1st December 2010.
